Worship
We hope you will find Episcopal worship at St. John’s meaningful and joyful. We believe God continues to speak to us through the Hebrew and Christian scriptures, and whenever we join together in prayer, song, and communion. Our worship grows out of the earliest Catholic tradition shaped by the English Reformation.
The whole congregation participates through prayer and song as well as ministries of service—as ushers, acolytes, choir members and readers. Everyone is welcome to receive communion. The 8:00 liturgy is said and is primarily in Rite I (traditional) language. Music is central to the worship at the 10:00 a.m. service. The Chancel Choir leads the congregation in hymn singing and enhances the service with anthems. Throughout the year special concerts and pageants are also presented.
What unites us? A progressive theology and respect for tradition which invites everyone to join in the Christian journey of faith, doubt, growth, and transformation.
